I'm looking for information on an antique secretary desk with a hutch. According to family history, this piece was owned by my wife's grandparents and was transported from Iceland to Canada and later to the United States, where it remained in her parents' home until she inherited it. We believe it was made in the late 1800s or early 1900s. We cannot find any production markings on it, which suggests that it may have been handmade. Additionally, it has not been refinished. A friend of mine recommended against refinishing it, as it might decrease its value. Any information regarding its origins and potential worth would be greatly appreciated.
