Quick Pickled Hot Dogs
Ingredients
* Hot dogs or small sausages (enough to fill your jar)
* 1–1½ cups vinegar
* 1¾–2¼ cups water
* ⅓–⅔ onion, sliced
* 1–2 teaspoons salt
Instructions
1. Pack the hot dogs or sausages into a clean quart jar. Add the sliced onion.
2. In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring until the salt dissolves.
3. Pour the hot brine over the hot dogs in the jar, making sure they are fully submerged.
4. Let the jar cool slightly, then seal and place in the refrigerator.
5. Let them pickle for at least 5–10 days before eating for the best flavor.
To Serve
Eat them right out of the jar as a tangy snack! They’re also great sliced on crackers, in sandwiches, or served alongside mustard and cheese.
